Consulting

Awna does software and AI work with communities. The people a tool is for help decide what it does, and the work stays theirs when it's done.

Four kinds of work

  • Community groups. Software for the organisations that hold a neighbourhood or a movement together.
  • Peer-to-peer tools. Decentralized tools that people run and own themselves.
  • Marginalized groups. Work with and for the people most systems leave out.
  • Data for equity. Data and engineering that show where things are unfair, so they can change.

Recent work

Before Awna, Zia Saidi built these as an independent consultant:

  • A community-partner dashboard for a public-health research lab (the CHANGE Lab). An interactive wellness wheel built in R and Shiny with a Tabler interface, data encrypted at rest, 14 languages, and automatic deploys.
  • The Affordable Housing Mapper. Housing-equity maps for Boston that bring together Census, HUD and city planning data, delivered to community stakeholders with a live public site.

How the work runs

Zia plans each piece of work and reviews every change. AI coding agents write the code under written standards, and an independent review checks it before anything ships. You get the speed of AI tools with a person accountable for every line.
